with my first i didn't have anything going on, not even braxton hicks, until my water broke, as soon as that water broke my contractions were on top of each other & insanely intense. I had my daughter less than 4 hours later. my second birth my water didn't break until i was ready to push, my water broke & my second daughter was born within 1 minute (4 pushes, 2 for the head 1 for shoulders & 1 for body).

my SIL had her water break first with her second son. contractions started within the hour.

Hi Sherri,

I have a Parent Workshop scheduled in Snellville in a couple of weeks. Honestly, though, there haven't been many inquiries. I have had to cancel the last few events I have scheduled. Because of this, I do not have a SSP class on the books right now. I would love it if there were more interest. If you have a Moms group that you are a part of and would like to see if others would like to join in, that would make for great fun. I also offer hostess incentives for someone that wanted to open their home to a series. Also, I have been experimenting with a 4 week SSP instead of 6, but still including all the information. I was finding that families were missing at least 2 dates from eash series :( Please let me know how I can help you bring signing fun to your little one's daily routine :) Talk soon, Nicole

Your blog is really cool. I know a lot of Athens moms are getting great info from you. I wanted to ask you a favor.
We are Fail As Fast As You Can, a program that teaches children creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship through fun classes in art, music, dance and foreign language.

We really want as many Athens locals to represent what Athens is all about - art, music, culture. We would love to give children a chance to grow up surrounded by these eclectic elements and skills.
I hope you may feature us on a blog in the future.
Let me know what you think.

Thanks in advance,

Alex

Three more ideas...the T.V. may be disturbing his sleep cycle. A doctor once told a friend that T.V. stimulates the brain instead of calms it. How much do you wear or hold Zephyr? Hunter has a need to be worn or held for a few hours each day. If he doesn't get it, nights are harder. Chiropractor that practices NET or acupuncture...alternative alternatives...it might be time put a call in to work on his energy :) Did you reflect on the day when Zephyr slept three hours? What worked well for him, and try to follow that pattern again?
Good-luck,
Jennifer

Nicole,

Have you checked out the book "No Cry Sleep Solutions?" It may be helpful. I followed parts of it while we got Hunter into a nighttime routine. I've had other friends say it was super helpful (an alternative to cry it out.) We are still working on Hunter's napping alone routine, and I haven't tried to put him to sleep by just laying him in the crib. I either nurse him down, or rock him down. We still have some things to learn. Have you tried nursing Zephyr in the room that he sleeps in, then lay him down (less steps)? Helped us a lot. Have you tried him on his tummy or side for naps to see if he may be able to handle it for nighttime (I've heard some babies just don't like being on their backs...check with your doctor though)? One of my friends found that her son had really bad acid reflux that was causing sleep disturbances.

Once you've got him rocked to sleep, do you wait until he is in "dead" alseep before trying to lay him down? (This may take a very long time...it did with Hunter, but once I figured out what his body felt like when he went into that deep sleep cycle it got really easy to lay him down. Otherwise, his eyes pop open wide. I also have a lullaby that I sing to Hunter whenever it is sleeping time and he struggles. I don't use it at any other point. (Matt sometimes plays it for him with his guitar.) I use it as our signal that it is sleep type. Sometimes I let Hunter sleep on top of me if nothing really works. He will sleep like this for hours. We started doing this at nap time and early morning, and now use it only when we really need it. He doesn't usually like to nap by himself for long periods of time. So I nap with him...next to him more often now. We've still got Hunter in a co-sleeper even though he barely fits in it, and we still swaddle his arms. We also use a fleece diaper at night now...Fuzzibunz with two fleece inserts...so that we do not need to change Hunter at all when he wakes for his feedings. Our early mornings (4 on) are still a bit rough sometimes, but I insist that Hunter go back into the co-sleeper until 6ish. I know it is hard. Hang in there...it will get better. I'm not working full-time, nor do I have a toddler, but I feel your pain. Hope it settles down soon. I'll keep thinking of some ideas. (Oh, I would try to work on his naps first then nighttime...that's what I did...small steps. Once I figured out what Hunter needed for napping, then I worked on when a good bedtime would be for him.)
